About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Toolmaker to join our toolroom team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, and optimizing precision injection molds that are critical to our manufacturing operations. You will work with a variety of machining techniques and tooling equipment to ensure molds perform reliably, meet quality standards, and support efficient production. This position is ideal for a highly technical professional who enjoys precision engineering, metalworking, and solving complex mechanical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Mold Maintenance & Repair: Disassemble, inspect, clean, maintain, and repair injection molds to ensure optimal performance and extended tool life.
- Precision Machining: Manufacture, rework, and repair mold components using conventional and CNC machining equipment, including milling, turning, grinding, and EDM processes.
- Mold Modifications & Optimization: Implement engineering changes and mold improvements based on technical drawings and production feedback to enhance product quality and cycle efficiency.
- Fault Analysis & Troubleshooting: Diagnose mold wear, damage, and performance issues, identifying root causes and implementing durable corrective solutions.
- Technical Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret complex 2D and 3D engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications to manufacture and modify tooling accurately.
- Quality & Precision Control: Ensure all tooling work is completed within tight tolerances and meets required quality, dimensional, and performance standards.
- Toolroom Organization & Safety: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to company safety and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Mechanics, Toolmaking, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience in toolmaking, mold making, mold maintenance, or precision machining.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes including milling, turning, grinding, and polishing.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings, CAD designs, and engineering specifications.
- Experience working with tight tolerances and precision measurement equipment.
- Knowledge of EDM (Sinker or Wire EDM) is considered a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and production teams.
